Maintenance Services

Our maintenance program is complete and thorough. This program has been developed over the years and fine-tuned to our native New Mexican environment.  Turf and plants require special needs specific to this ecosystem.  Xeriscaped areas also have special needs and requirements.

To provide our customers with horticulturally and environmentally sound services that make your landscaping look beautiful.

Typical Scope of Work

 As per our Contract, we will be responsible for (Our Scope of Work can be customized to meet your individual needs): 

Mow all turf areas, mulching when possible, and trimming where necessary.  Mowing shall be done approximately weekly during the growing season and as necessary during the dormant season.

Police landscaped areas to keep them in a neat and attractive condition.  This shall include picking up and disposing of all cans, papers, dead plant matter (but excludes Pine Needles), and other trash.  This does not include parking lots or driveways.

Pruning of shrubs and trees two to three times annually to keep excess growth from interfering with pedestrian walkways, motorist's vision, private property or irrigation system. S.L.M. will not be responsible for pruning of shrubs or trees over fifteen (15) feet in height.  Trees and shrubs over fifteen feet can be pruned on a per job basis and will be billed separately as this type of work caries a much higher insurance premium.

Fertilizing of turf, shrubs, trees and other living plants which are part of the permanent landscaped areas as is reasonably required to maintain these plantings in a viable, healthy and disease-free condition.  

Applications will be as follows:

Turf Areas:

                Round One - Early Spring Application:
Fertilize to promote recovery from winter dormancy, weed control and pre-emergent (to control crabgrass) may be applied, depending on spring soil temperature.

                Round Two - Late Spring Application:
Fertilize to promote steady growth, apply first half of pre-emergent herbicide to control crabgrass and other weeks, apply post-emergent herbicide to control dandelions, apply wetting agent to increase effectiveness of herbicides wile reducing the amount of herbicide required.

                Round Three - Summer Application:
Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer containing iron to maintain rich green color during high temperatures, apply broadleaf weed control, apply second half of pre-emergent herbicide to increase season long control of crabgrass.

                Round Four - Late Summer Application:
Fertilize with balanced slow release fertilizer, spot treat for weeds.

                Round Five - Fall Application:
Fertilize with a heavy rate of slow release fertilizer to provide a nutrient source for developing roots throughout the winter to encourage an early spring green-up, spot treat weeds.

Trees and shrubs:

                Summer to Late Fall feedings:
Promotes root development over the winter months.  Encourages strong plants and reduces the effects of winter.

Application of pesticides as is reasonably required to maintain all shrubs and trees, which are part of the landscaped areas in a viable, healthy and disease-free condition.  We will NOT spray any fruit-bearing tree(s), shrub(s), or plant(s) with any kind of chemicals.  Trees and shrubs will be monitored on a weekly basis. Turf insect and disease problems will be treated symptomatically, and will be billed based on time and material used.  Maintenance crews will notify the Plant Health Care Specialist if there is a problem that needs attention.  Certain recurring pests are planned for and will be treated automatically.  Fungicides are not covered under this contract.  Fungi cannot be eliminated, only suppressed.  Applications of fungicides will be at an additional charge.  Grub control is not covered under this contract.  Applications of grub control will be at an additional charge as well.

Aerating annually all turf areas during late winter to early spring to reduce any thatch build-up and allow water and other nutrients to rapidly reach the roots.

Edging all turf areas as is reasonably required to maintain a definite edge to all turf areas.

Removal of undesirable plant growth from rocked or barked areas.

Providing irrigation water management services and setting controllers.

Available 24 hours a day for emergency calls by either management or on-site attendants.

Quality control inspections will be performed in addition to your regular maintenance visits.
